In his 50 years of performing celebrity impressions-- roughly since he was seven years old, Rick concedes that the last ten years have been the most exciting. Some of his most memorable moments include the following:

  • After a show, being told by Neil Diamond's mother that his impression gave her chills.
  • Having the opportunity to work alongside John Byner, Mickey Rooney, and Sherman Hemsley as the voice of some of the Krofft puppets.
  • Sharing the spotlight with Rich Little.
  • Performing impressions of Bob Hope, Gerald Ford, and Frank Sinatra before the actual celebrities.
  • During a special reunion show of the original "Tonight Show" cast, being invited by Steve Allen to be his distinguished guest on stage.
  • Entertaining American troops in Korea in a Bob Hope-style road show.
  • Opening for Bobby Collins, John Pinette, Rita Rudner, and George Wallace.
  • Playing a schizophrenic lifeguard-killer on "Baywatch" (a role that was written especially for him.)
  • Making appearances on "Entertainment Tonight," "America's Funniest People," and the "Larry King Live" show.
  • Serenading Debbie Reynolds with his favorite Sinatra repertoire.
  • Periodically guest-starring as an impersonator in "Viva Las Vegas," a highly-acclaimed Vegas variety show.

In 1999, David Cassidy (of the Partridge Family fame) saw Rick do his rendition of Frank Sinatra with a 22 piece orchestra at the Nevada Governor's Ball. Impressed by Rick's work, Cassidy then asked him to be the understudy for a "The Rat Pack," a show he was producing at Vegas' Desert Inn. Not only did Rick fill in for the Sinatra part but he also performed Dean Martin and Joey Bishop roles as well. The show, which reopened in March of 2000 at Vegas' Sahara Hotel, featured Rick in the role of Dean Martin for the entire 25-month run.

Rick now performs Dean Martin in his own show "DRINKIN' - SINGIN' - SWINGIN' - Salute to Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr. and Dean Martin," which can be viewed at www.SinatraDavisMartin.com

Given his versatility, the future holds so many possibilities for Rick Michel that it's hard to pinpoint what new direction his career may take. It's a safe bet to say, though, that whatever his new projects may be, they will surely be impressive ones!
